Journey to Noosa 𧳠π₯§ π π π
Friday, May 18 - Saturday, May 19:
I worked on packing my suitcase in the morning, as it was time to move on again.
Sally made a pecan pie with pecans grown on her farm. (Did I mention mangoes, pecans, and macadamia nuts among the many things grown there?)
We went to visit her son Charlie and his family and were shocked when Sally got a call from Charlie’s wife on the way there telling her that he had sunk his small boat in the ocean and swam 1 hour and 40 minutes to shore! It seemed like he was okay, but he was very tired and sore, and had lost his phone and car keys (only fob they had). But we are so thankful he is alive and safe!
Sally and Charlie
Finally got a shot of Sally and I together
(Dean was our age, but Sally is younger)
We ate some pecan pie at Charlie’s house, and then went for pizza (yes, dessert before dinner).
After that we went to a live musical production of The Jersey Boys, the story of Franky Valli, which was awesome! (Unfortunately, they didn’t allow any pictures inside the theatre.)
Sally drove me to the train station which was very close to the theatre. There we were informed that the train had engine trouble and was traveling at a slower speed than usual. It was originally supposed to arrive in Coffs Harbour at 11:35 p.m. and get to Brisbane at 4:53 a.m. Now it was expected at 1:50, then 2:30, then 3:00 a.m. and would be replaced by a bus to Brisbane, arriving who knows when? (Yes, more time to catch up on my blog!) I was going to Noosa Heads, where I was only planning to be for 30 hours.
At about 1:20 a.m., the station attendant told me and the other guy who was waiting that a bus was going to take us south (yes, the wrong direction) to Nambucca Heads to meet the train and pick up its passengers and then head north to Brisbane.
We left Nambucca Heads at 2:25 with a bus crammed full of people from the train heading to Brisbane. (There was a second bus also.) At 3:45 we passed by Coffs Harbour again, and at 8:00 a.m., we arrived in Brisbane.
This guy was at the Brisbane Station
In Brisbane, I took a taxi from the Roma St. Station to Hotel Grand Chancellor and back. I wanted to drop off a box of my stuff to lighten my load for the upcoming stretch of my trip. Hotel Grand Chancellor is where I’ll be staying for Camp Widow starting on Thursday, May 23. At 9:30 I took a Greyhound Bus from Brisbane to Noosa, and arrived at 12:30.
Finally on my way to Noosa
This fancy city on the Sunshine Coast is called Mooloolaba. Lots of highrises.
Hooray! I made it!
