WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY

¡Hola! πŸ¦‹

Wednesday, April 10

After the morning routine of dance exercise class, breakfast, and devotionals, I tried to help set the new swimming pool men’s locker room water heater thermostat. I didn’t succeed, but my teammate Kevin found a YouTube video in Spanish to guide the staff in setting it. After that, I painted the kitchen some more, and removed signs from the entryway walls so Mikayla could paint without obstruction.

It’s not easy being green! (Trying to go from blue to yellow 🫠)

The Pura Vida pool (I got to peek at the pool every time I took a bathroom break

because the bathrooms in the gym are not completed yet.)

They made a delicious burrito lunch for us on a lovely long table with tablecloths on Wednesday

Making progress with the cement for the skate park

After working, we went to Playa Caletilla in the van to watch the sunset

The house at the top of this photo is the one my family rented when we came in December

Riding in the van with Mikayla, Solveig, and Baby Lou. Notice that Mikayla is holding a strap.

That's how you keep the back door closed.

We had dinner at a Sandwicheria - the biggest hamburgers I’ve ever seen!

Juliette got off a little early from coaching the local Pura Vida swim team, and she joined us for dinner.

Thursday, 4/11

Got up & went to a little bit of the dance exercise class, but I had to leave early because we were

having breakfast at Mitch & Juliette’s house at 9:30.

To get started sooner on our last day of working, we skipped the devotional talk and were

encouraged instead to pray for 2 people during the day. (I prayed for Kaysen, age 18, and John,

who is a high school teacher).

We finished painting the kitchen (well, we ran out of paint), and then I helped paint the entry hall.

After that, I scraped tiles on the walls & floors of all the rooms I had helped paint to remove spilled paint

residue. I also swept the floors. My hands were so worn out from all that scraping that I couldn’t open my

water bottle at dinner time later.

They prepared a delicious fried fish (Reineta) lunch for us on our last work day and served it in the

gym to be faster. I got to have a long talk with David, the YWAM administrator who was cooking for us for

the week, while he was frying the fish. He shared his amazing testimony with me, which included starting

to cook for his family at the age of seven.

For our last dinner we went to a really nice Burger place called Mailu Burger House.

I had the Brutal Burger with chicken instead of beef.

(Because I’d eaten ¾ of the giant burger from the night before)

We got back just in time for me to head up to Nathan Anderson’s house and jump on Zoom for my

Grief Share support group 9:30-11:30 Chile time. The ocean was very loud from Nathan’s house

on the hill, even though it’s not that close to the ocean.
