Camp Widow - Last Day 🌞πŸͺ»☕ 🍽️ 🚢🐨 🚍 πŸš‰

Sunday morning dawned sunny with low clouds. I joined the Camp Widow Morning Walk & Talk at Roma St. Parkland, which was from 9:00-10:00.

There aren’t many fall-colored trees in Australia, but there are a few pretty ones in this park

I love how the vines wrap around the trees

The chrysanthemums behind me say πŸ’œ MUM

I still needed to get my luggage packed and check out before the Reconnection Session at 9:30, so I left the walk early at 8:30. I managed to get everything ready and check out in time to get to the Session, which was a chance to reflect with the other Newly Widowed campers - those in their first year of widowhood. After that we had a Brunch and Farewell time. They reminded us about “camp crash” - the difficulty of getting back to normal life after the mountaintop experience of a weekend being with people who all understand and relate to our reality and challenges as widows. We said our farewells, and got ready to leave.

Camp Widow Australia was a healing and growing experience for me, and I made connections with wonderful people. If you know anyone who would benefit from this opportunity, they are holding a Camp Widow in San Diego in July. https://campwidow.org/camp/san-diego/

I decided to leave my luggage at the hotel and venture into the city one more time to buy a few more souvenirs before leaving Australia.

There are 3-D butterflies on this mural

I walked to a shop called Australia the Gift, bought some nice things, and took the free shuttle back to the hotel, where I gathered my luggage and caught the shuttle again to Central Station, where I caught the train to Toombul. I got off at the Sandgate station, where Christina McKay met me, and we walked back to her house in the Clayfield section of Brisbane. (Cristina and Ian are the ones with an apartment in Brisbane and the house & AirBnb apartment where I stayed in Agnes Water. Ian is still in Agnes Water, and he has their car.)

I was pretty worn out, both emotionally and physically, so I had dinner with Christina and laid low on Sunday evening.
