THE CSUS TEAM DEPARTS πŸ‡¨πŸ‡± 🌲 πŸ„ 🚌

¡Hola! πŸ¦‹

On Friday, April 12, the Christian Surfers United States Surf & Serve team departed Pichilemu, Chile, for the Santiago airport, leaving me behind to continue my adventure.

We had a late breakfast at 10 a.m., followed by our final devotional time studying Nehemiah, and then everyone had free time to pack up for a 2:00 departure.

Some “after” shots of all our work projects:

We got about half of the cement poured for the skate park

Men’s restroom

Entry hall to the gymnasium

Utility Room & adjacent office

Women’s restroom

Kitchen

Women’s Showers

Men’s Showers

Garbage left behind

Solveig and Lou, still smiling

I sacrificed a vintage T-shirt to the cause. This one was from a surf contest in La Serena, Chile in 1994. That’s where Mitch got the idea to name his future Sports Center “Pura Vida”. The contest was an outreach to surfers & the surf community. Joe & I were there with Joy & Silas, Mitch & Juliette & the kids they had then were there, and Marcos & Patricia Pueyes were there. That was where I first met Marcos.

This is my Christian Surfers team shirt! At least the paint colors match the printing!

I’m keeping this one as a souvenir!

Trying to figure out how to get the paint off of the boots Juliette loaned me.

When the team got all packed up, we discovered that Mikayla’s passport was nowhere to be found. We searched all her luggage, my luggage, and Joey’s luggage. We scoured the room but couldn’t find it. Finally, Mitch said “Let’s just go. Maybe she lost it at the airport and someone turned it in.” And that’s what ended up happening! It was there at the airport!

Surfboards all packed up again

They rented a nice van to transport the team back to the airport

After everyone left, I was exhausted, so I rested, cleaned our room, went to the pool, hot tub, and dry sauna, and took a long shower. Then my friend Rut Jerez came to pick up me and my luggage and take me to her “Boarding House” which is called Yutty. I’ve been battling a cough and pretty extreme exhaustion since Thursday evening, so I’m taking it easy for now.

Here’s my room at Yutty’s
